Our Stylist Says

I love this wall light for its sleek, modern look that complements a variety of outdoor styles, from contemporary to minimalist. Its black, cylindrical design is versatile and unobtrusive, making it perfect for highlighting entrances, pathways, or even garden seating areas. Practical styling tips would include pairing it with other black or matte hardware for a cohesive look or using it to create subtle accent lighting on textured walls for added dimension. It works particularly well in urban or industrial-inspired exteriors but can also add a contemporary edge to more traditional settings when paired with natural materials. Keep in mind, its clean lines and unobtrusive profile mean it won’t overpower your overall landscape design, making it a smart choice for functional yet stylish outdoor lighting.

About BHS.com

Founded in 1928, BHS is a renowned brand that caters to various tastes and budgets. From modern to classic designs, BHS offers quality items that effortlessly elevate your decor.

Historical Roots

British Home Stores, known as BHS, was founded by a group of U.S. entrepreneurs with the goal of replicating the same success that was seen by Woolworths.

Their first store was on the streets of Brixton and the brand quickly gained popularity for its diverse offerings.

Over time, their range of products expanded to encompass not just clothing and household items, but also furniture, electronics, entertainment, and even beauty products. By the 1960's, BHS already had 94 stores across the nation!

Expansion and Evolution

BHS has always been on the cutting edge of retail trends! In the 1970s and 1980s, when indoor shopping centres were gaining popularity, BHS quickly adapted. Their collaboration with Sainsbury's led to the creation of SavaCentre hypermarkets, which offered a combined retail experience of both general merchandise and groceries.

They didn't limit themselves to the UK either. By 1985, BHS opened its doors in Gibraltar, marking its international debut. Significant milestones like the merger with Habitat and Mothercare in 1986 further shaped its success.
