Description

Our in-house designers focused on minimal design, sturdy woodwork and softer shapes when creating our Spindle range of bedroom furniture. Each piece is made from a combination of solid oak, pine wood, MDF and plywood, with an oiled coating for durability. This bed frame has a charming, natural aesthetic thanks to its slatted headboard, rounded edges and shapely frame. There are supportive sprung slats in the base which your mattress will sit on top of, rather than sitting inside the frame. Available in a warm, natural or bold painted finish. Simply layer your bed with linens and cosy throws and create the perfect sleep spot. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a big fan of this simple oak spindle bed - its clean lines and warm timber tone suit everything from Scandi-minimal to relaxed coastal or classic country interiors. The vertical spindles add just enough detail without overpowering, so you can layer on textured linens, a chunky throw and a mix of patterned cushions for a lived-in look. Because it sits low, it works especially well in rooms with high ceilings or light, neutral walls to keep the space feeling open. Pair it with slimline bedside tables and a woven rug underneath to soften the edges. If you need extra storage, slide in shallow boxes or baskets under the frame to make the most of the clear space beneath.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
