Description

The Fromme collection is expanding with a wooden version, a perfect fusion of elegance and comfort. The warmth of wood combines with the minimalist, streamlined design of the Fromme chair. A well-thought-out combination of colour and materials. Fromme is a practical stool boasting all of the technical properties of a bike seat, thanks to the shock absorbers positioned underneath the seat which add flexibility and suppleness to create optimal comfort. The slightly curved shape of the seat and inclined plane at the front further increase comfort. More inspiration from the racing bike: its sleek, moulded lines, which are a common feature throughout the Fromme collection. Its modern design fits nicely into any decor, offering superior quality seating for absolute comfort. This original version is dressed in Alpi wood veneer designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1980 at the start of the Memphis movement. The iconic pattern of the ALPI Sottsass wood collection is characterised by the accentuation of the design of the veins which enhance the colours of the wooden coverings, offering these unusual combinations and unconventional language so typical of Sottsass. An avid cyclist, Canadian designer Tom Chung used to climb Fromme Mountain, which is just outside Vancouver, and was always fascinated by the technical performance of his bike. He wanted to reproduce the efficacy provided by his racing bike to reinvent the most common object, which nevertheless poses the biggest challenge for a designer: a chair. This new addition to the line of avant-garde products from Petite Friture proves once again that the brand gives young designers a chance, trusting them to create key pieces for its collections.

Our Stylist Says

The Fromme stacking chair is a savvy choice for adding a touch of mid-century modern elegance to a variety of interiors. I love its clean lines and the contrast between the natural wood veneer and the black metal frame, which makes it adaptable whether paired with minimalist Scandinavian schemes or eclectic, artisanal spaces. It works particularly well in casual dining areas, bedrooms as accent seating, or even in creative workspaces where a bit of visual interest is welcomed. For styling, try layering with textured cushions or placing it alongside pieces with organic shapes to highlight its crafted, timeless appeal. Its compact form also makes it practical for stacking and storage, making it an ideal multi-use piece for smaller homes or those who like to keep flexibility in their interior layout.
