Description

The Marble Hill Single Wall Light is an exercise in Georgian proportions inspired by Marble Hill, a historic Georgian villa in Twickenham, London. Looking stunning in the hallway, bedroom or dining room, this elegant single wall light is versatile and can be used in most rooms in the house. Sold complete with a shade from English Heritage's St John Street pleated shades range. Made in a choice of finishes. The authentically aged brass finish is a multi-stage process involving brass plating, chemical oxidising and hand rubbing before finally finishing with a protective lacquer. The polished nickel finish gives the wall light an authentic, warm look. The Marble Hill single wall light features a metal chain pull cord switch for ease of use. The Marble Hill range consists of a 3 and 5 light pendant, wall light and table lamp, all in two authentic historic finishes. Part of the English Heritage lighting collection, inspired by Great British houses and gardens.

Our Stylist Says

I love this wall light for its classic yet versatile look, making it a great choice to add a subtle touch of elegance to a variety of interiors. It works particularly well in traditional or period-style spaces, but can also be incorporated into more contemporary schemes when paired with modern finishes. The fabric lampshade adds a softer, more personalised feel, which is perfect for bedrooms, hallways, or cosy reading nooks. For styling, consider pairing it with muted colour palettes or contrasting textures, and install it at eye level or slightly above to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Practical tip: coordinate with other metallic accents to create a cohesive look, ensuring the light becomes both a functional and design feature.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
